“Dreadstar Omnibus Volume 3”

“What’s really great about Dreadstar is that there’s progression in the series. Things change, characters change, the world changes, people die and don’t come back. It’s got all the cosmic weirdness of a comic book, but it does have this sort of progression where you feel like things happen and do have some weight. It’s pretty cool.

I was really sad to read the intro and find out that Jim Starlin had injured his hand and couldn’t draw, however I gather that in 2020 he announced he’d rehabilitated it enough to draw again! It sucks we missed out on 5 years of his talent, but it’s good to know he’s back in action.

I did miss the art style from the first omnibus and first Dreadstar stories. It was so unique and stylish. The later volumes, including this one, are aight, but you won’t find yourself staring at the images the way you would’ve in the first. “
